Second Tapestry Hall (room 23)

The tapestries shown are ‘Otto von Wittelsbach outside Ferrara’ and ‘Otto von Wittelsbach outside Milan’. The events took place in 1158 during the second Italian campaign of Emperor Frederick Barbarossa. Otto’s cavalry crosses the river Po near Ferrara and Otto storms one of Milan’s town gates.
